Drake had placed two huge bets backing Adesanya to beat Alexsandro Pereira of Brazil.

Canadian rapper Drake has walked away with $2.7m (Ksh353, 916,000) after winning a bet he placed on New Zealand's Israel Adesanya to reclaim the middleweight UFC world title.

Drake placed two huge bets backing Adesanya to beat Alexsandro Pereira of Brazil, one by knockout and also to get the win over the Brazilian.

He placed a $500,000 (Ksh65, 540,000) bet on Adesanya to win, which returned $885,000 (about Ksh116,005,800) and a $400,000 (Ksh52,432,000) chance for him to win by knockout, which yielded a massive $1.8 million (about Ksh235,944,000).

The win serves as redemption for both Adesanya and Drake considering when Adesanya lost his title to Pereira five months ago, Drake lost $1.6m (about Ksh209,728,000).

When Adesanya was asked about Drake’s bet after bagging the win, he was over the moon an and appreciated Drake for placing the bet on him.

"Shout out to everyone that bet on me, but you have to realise that when I step into the octagon, I put my life on the line. That's the biggest parlay you can ever do. I'm a betting man too, so shout out to stake; we are about to make another deal and get more money," he said.

Adesanya handed a devastating punch to send Pereira wobbling to the canvas in the second round to earn a knockout victory.
