The results mean there is no change at the top of the log. Kobs and Heathens have now moved to 35 points.

The top three teams on the Nile Special Rugby Premier League table were in demolition mode on Saturday afternoon and cruised to maximum points.

With the Uganda Sevens players out on national duty for the next six weeks, teams were playing without some of their most important stars for the first time this season.

But that did not stop the top three sides, Kobs, Stanbic Black Pirates and Platinum Credit Heathens from rolling over their opponents to bag five points and remain in an intense title race.

Kobs, without captain Ian Munyani, Adrian Kasito and Mark Osuna, made light work of Rhinos 54-00 to stay top of the log.

Pius Ogena, eventually named Man of the match, scored four tries for Brian Makalama’s charges to ease past Rhinos in a one-sided Legends derby.

Across the road, at Kyadondo, there was a top flight double header and it was the home sides Heathens and Toyota Buffaloes that registered wins over Walukuba Barbarians and Plascon Mongers respectively.

Winger Michael Amolo scored a hattrick of tries while Lawrence Sebuliba and Scot Oluoch also crossed the white line for the defending champions to defeat Walukuba 43-07.

For Buffaloes, the win was a lot closer, a nail-biting 20-19 win to deliver four points.

At the King’s Park Arena, hosts Pirates could not afford another loss after that 30-25 slip-up against Kobs.

Tries from Conrad Wanyama, Alvin Rukundo, Sydney Gongodyo, Moses Zziwa and Jones Kamiza helped Marvin Odongo’s side to a routine win over Impis.

Ivan Magomu put in three conversions and a penalty as the Sea Robbers bounced back to beat Impis 34-10 and keep Kobs and Heathens in sight.

The loss was Impis’ third in a row.

The results mean there is no change at the top of the log. Kobs and Heathens have now moved to 35 points.

Makalama’s side remain top on points difference while Pirates are now on 34.
