Kenya Lionesses have secured their place in the cup quarter-finals at the ongoing Africa Sevens which is also acting as the Olympics qualifiers

Kenya Lionesses eased into the cup quarter-finals of the Africa Sevens following a second straight victory in Tunis, Tunisia on Saturday.

The Lionesses, who started their campaign with a 27-0 win over Zambia, added Ghana to their list of casualties, thrashing them 41-0 to secure a place in the last eight with one pool match to spare.

Stellah Wafula went over the line in quick succession, with Grace Okumu converting one, to give Kenya a 12-0 lead before Sharon Auma’s brace, added to Janet Okello’s try gave Dennis Mwanja side a 27-0 lead at the break.

Kenya would up the ante after halftime with Okello and Auma adding two more for a 23-0 lead before Terry Ayesa’s converted touchdown eased the Lionesses to the 41-0 win.

It is proving to be a great outing for Kenya so far at the tournament which is also acting as the Olympics qualifiers.

Okello has so far scored four tries for her side after notching two in the win over Zambia while Wafula has three, two in the opening match, and one against Ghana. Auma also has three, all coming from the huge win against the West Africans.

The Lionesses are bidding to win the tournament and secure a place at next year’s Olympics in Paris, France in what will be a second straight appearance at the Games.

Pressure is on to end the tournament with an unblemished record just like their male counterparts Shujaa who had a flawless run as they sealed their Olympics ticket in Zambia last month. Kenya will play Madagascar in their final group match.
