Former Kenya Sevens captain Humphrey Kayange claimed victory in the men's category with 43 points and a handicap of 24 at the seventh Alumni Golf Challenge, held at Limuru Country Club over the weekend.

Representing St Peters' Mumias, it was an improvement from the Fifth edition he participated in in 2023, where he finished 15th overall on 34 points, a tournament where his brother Collins Injera also featured in.

Priscilla Waithaka, an alumna of Precious Blood - Riruta, impressed in the Ladies' category with 39 points, while Kakamega School alumnus Michael Zeni defied the odds to secure overall victory among 234 competing golfers.

Zeni, a member of the Kenya Airforce Golf Club and a relative newcomer to the sport, stunned spectators with a handicap of 24, scoring an impressive 44 points.

Zeni's triumph not only earned him the championship title but also garnered a seed bursary fund of Ksh100,000 for his alma mater. His remarkable journey from novice to champion in just a year serves as an inspiring tale of dedication and perseverance.

The record-breaking turnout of 234 players from 75 schools across the country underscored the spirit of unity among alumni, highlighting the success of the event, made possible by the generous support of sponsors including Heri Homes, Goodlife Pharmacy, Maridady Motors, Harleys Ltd (Deepheat & Vitabitoics), Bdelo, Securities Africa, Yen Africa, Waridi Eyewear, and Edge Isle.
