The tournament, a key stop in the East African golfing calendar, continues to attract widespread interest for both its competitive edge and developmental focus.

“We are excited to be part of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour for the third year running. This demonstrates the growth of the game in the lakeside region,” said Griffin Owino, captain of Nyanza Golf Club.

A Showcase of Talent on a Storied Course

Owino emphasized the readiness of the course and its historical appeal to golfers. “Nyanza Golf Club has traditionally been a challenging course, and many players are always eager to come here to compete in various events.

The course is in the absolute best condition, and we are optimistic we will have a fantastic showpiece,” he added.

The KCB East Africa Golf Tour has been instrumental in nurturing a golfing culture across Kenya and beyond.

Since its inception, the series has traversed six counties including Kiambu, Kericho, Nandi, Nairobi, Mombasa, and Nanyuki, and has even crossed borders to Burundi. Its presence in Nyanza marks another key milestone in engaging golfers from emerging regions.

With this weekend’s leg offering a coveted path to the Grand Finale set for December 5, the stakes are high. The top two teams from the Nyanza tournament will qualify directly for the finale, fueling intense competition among players.

Youth Development and Regional Impact

KCB Group has also used the tour to strengthen youth participation in golf.

As part of its broader vision, the bank continues to invest in junior development through regular golf clinics held alongside the tournaments. More than 1,000 juniors have benefited from these initiatives.

“We can't overlook the growing influence of golf in the Nyanza region.

The emphasis on youth development aligns perfectly with our brand values.

This weekend, we will be making a stop at the Nyanza Golf Club for a competitive tournament, where the top two teams will secure their place in the tour’s Grand Finale set for December 5.

As we get closer to the finale, players are raising their game in hopes of earning a spot,” said Rosalind Gichuru, KCB Group Marketing and Communications Director.

To date, the tour has reached over 1,500 golfers across the region, with many new players making their competitive debut through the platform.

Sunday’s golf clinic in Kisumu is expected to draw a large number of young participants eager to learn from seasoned pros and coaches.
