The defender has been granted compassionate leave by Tusker.

Tusker FC have dedicated their Saturday’s FKF Cup semi-final victory over Ulinzi Stars to their teammate Daniel Sakari whose father passed away on Friday.

The Brewers won the game 1-0 over Ulinzi, but the players’ minds were focused on Sakari, who was going through an unimaginable situation.

Tusker coach Robert Matano says they wanted to win the match at Nyayo National Stadium in memory of Sakari’s father.

“In fact we played for him (Sakari). He is a dependable player and it is sad for the team so all of us are mourning. We are one family,” said Matano.

Tusker players took a moment to pay respect for the departed after scoring the winning goal that substitute Erick Otieno netted at the stroke of full time.

They displayed Daniel Sakari’s jersey to acknowledge the teammate during this difficult time.

Sakari has impressed since joining Tusker in September 2021 from another FKF Premier League side Kariobangi Sharks.

Tusker will now face Kakamega Homeboyz in the highly anticipated FKF Cup finals on July 1, 2023.

Before the game, the Brewers will welcome Gor Mahia on Sunday, May 28, in a league game scheduled at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

Tusker tops the league table with 64 points, one above Gor Mahia with four matches left to the end of the season.
