Wekundu wa Msimbazi reportedly want K’Ogalo to increase their offer if they are to sign the defender.

Tanzania Premier League heavyweights Simba SC have turned down Gor Mahia’s offer to resign Joash Onyango.

Onyango is understood to have requested to leave the Kariakoo-based giants and has been linked with a number of clubs, including his former side.

However, reports in Tanzania indicate that Wekundu wa Msimbazi have not entertained K’Ogalo’s overtures to sign the center-back.

Simba signed the Kenyan defender in 2020, just after the center-back had participated in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations finals with Harambee Stars in Egypt.

He went on to establish himself as one of the pivotal players but, in recent times, has been singled out by critics. Errors, especially those leading to opponents getting penalties, have seen him come under regular criticism.

With Simba failing to wrestle the league title from impressive Yanga SC, the club is expected to sign more players, which means some will have to be offloaded to make room for new arrivals.

Reports coming out of the club say head coach Roberto ‘Robertinho’ Oliveira has already picked out positions he wants strengthened. The Brazilian tactician wants a central defender added, and that means Henock Inonga, Onyango, or even Kennedy Juma might leave for the new defender to be accommodated.

A return to the FKF Premier League looks possible for the former Western Stima defender, but Gor Mahia will have to match Simba’s asking price if that is to happen.

The initial offer tabled, according to Soka la Bongo, is too little, and Simba want Gor Mahia to increase it in order for talks over Onyango's sale to commence.

Apart from Gor Mahia, Onyango has been linked with Singida Big Stars. Should he choose to remain in Tanzania and sign for Big Stars, Onyango will get a chance to play alongside his former teammate, Meddie Kagere.

They played together at Gor Mahia and at Simba before the Rwandan joined Big Stars.
