Manchester United have now trained their sights on a striker from a Premier League rival after agreeing a transfer for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha.

Manchester United have reportedly shifted focus to a Premier League striker as they aim to bolster their squad for next season after agreeing a deal with Wolves forward Matheus Cunha.

United have a deal in place for Cunha who is set to leave Premier League rivals Wolves for the Red Devils at the end of the season having been convinced by Ruben Amorim’s project with personal terms agreed although the two clubs are yet to reach an agreement.

However, that is not expected to be a problem as United need to activate his £62.5 million release clause with only the payment formula set to take time to agree.

Now as per the Athletic, the club are trying to lure Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap to help solve their problems upfront after struggling in front of goal this season with just 42 goals scored in 37 Premier League matches.

Delap has a release clause of £30 million that became active when they were relegated and United hope to beat other Premier League rivals to his signature as Chelsea are among teams also said to be interested.

The former Manchester City striker has 12 goals in 35 Premier League games and at 22, United feel he represents the future and are keen to tie him to a deal if he agrees to join.

Delap is reported to have been given permission to travel to Manchester on Monday and listen to what United are offering as he weighs up his offers before making a final decision.

United, who face Tottenham in the Europa League final on Wednesday, can secure Champions League football if they win although their transfer activity is not pegged on that as they already have a plan in place whether they secure European qualification or not.
