Shabana FC recorded just their second win of the year as they handed Posta Rangers a heavy defeat to ease their relegation fears.

Shabana FC recorded their first win in nine matches when they put Posta Rangers to the sword, beating them 3-0 at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay on Saturday.

Having struggled to score in their last eight matches when they only managed three goals while letting in 13, Shabana were clinical against Posta Rangers, taking a 3-0 lead inside 47 minutes with John Kamau’s men, who came into the match sitting fifth on the table, finding the going tough.

Shabana’s first goal arrived after 20 minutes when Llyod Khavuchi scored a beauty and they held on until the 42nd minute before youngster Mathew Tegisi doubled their advantage.

Samuel Maiko brought in a good ball which Tegisi headed home to give Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo’s men a well deserved 2-0 lead at the break.

The halftime pep talk seems to have been more beneficial to Shabana than Posta Rangers since Pamzo’s men just took two minutes after restart to extend their lead.

Shabana had made a halftime change, taking off Japhet Lihanda for Bryan Michira and the alteration paid immediate dividends.

Michira scored another beautiful goal for the Glamour Boys following a good pass from Price Ayieko as the home side consolidated their lead.

Shabana held firm to collect all three points, recording just their second win of the year since their 5-2 thrashing on Nzoia Sugar on January 14, in what was Pamzo’s first match in charge.

Pamzo would have been impressed by how clinical his side were after their recent struggles in front of goal and the clean sheet is also another positive, having last shout out an opponent on February 5.

It is just Shaba’s fifth victory of the season and although it does not alter their position on the table, they are now second from bottom with 21 points, having ended a run of four straight league defeats.
