Enos claims he received just Ksh 500,000 from the club despite Betika already paying the first quarter of the sponsorship agreement.

AFC Leopards commercial director Vincent Enos Mutokah, through his lawyers Ngonyo Munyua and Co, has written to the club demanding payment of Ksh5.5 Million commission for sourcing a Ksh60 million shirt-sponsorship deal with sports betting company Betika.

Enos claims he received just Ksh 500,000 from the club despite Betika already paying the first quarter of the sponsorship agreement to the club

According to the letter, AFC Leopards have 10 days to pay the KES 5.5 Million commission with interest accrued, else Mutokah will file recovery action as per the agreement with the club.

It also listed a couple of instructions that AFC Leopards must follow in efforts to execute the terms of contract mutually agreed between both parties in 2021.

“Our client is a member and loyal fan of the AFC Leopards Sports Club (the club) and has actively supported it over time using his time and resources. This is well within your knowledge and indeed a matter of general public notoriety,” the letter said.

“In the years 2020 and 2021, the club was expecting substantial financial turbulence due to a lack of sponsors and well wishers to fund it and its activities. This is also a fact well within the public domain and your knowledge.

“In recognition of our client’s competence and capacity to mobilize funds and other resources needed by the club, it appointed him as his commercial director under the terms of the contract mutually executed by the parties and dated 2nd February 2021 to undertake the process of securing a suitable sponsor for the club within the given and available parameters.

“It was a term of the contract that our client would render the overall sponsorship transaction services including inter alia.”

In 2021, Leopards announced a  new partnership deal with the betting firm  in a statement released on their official social media pages.

"We are pleased to announce a new partnership between Betika and AFC Leopards SC," the club confirmed on their official social media page.

"Kenya Premier League football club, AFC Leopards SC, popularly known as 'Ingwe' can breathe a sigh of relief after we bet on them with a sponsorship deal worth Ksh 195 million. Ksh.  65 million a year for a three-year deal."

In the same year, Leopards had to terminate a sponsorship deal with Spotika after failing to meet their ends of the bargain.

On July 1 2022, AFC Leopards Sports Club entered into an agreement with Silicon Solutions Limited (Spotika)," a statement from Leopards, seen by Pulse Sports read.

"It was a term of contract that Spotika would pay the club Ksh4,000,000 as follows; Ksh2,000,000 at the execution of the agreement and Ksh2,000,000 on or before July 17, 2022.

"The club has been, in compliance with the terms of the agreement, advertising Spotika’s products on all its social media platforms and website. Spotika paid the initial Ksh2,000,000.

However, in breach of the agreement, Spotika has, despite several requests, refused and or failed to pay the balance of Ksh2,000,000 either as agreed or at all.

"The club’s officials have tried in vain to get a meeting with Spotika’s officials."
