The President of the Cameroon Football Association (FECAFOOT) has announced plans to sue CAF over corruption allegations,

Samuel Eto'o, the celebrated President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), has announced his decision to pursue legal action against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over allegations of corruption.

The move, disclosed in a revealing interview on France 24 on Wednesday marks a significant escalation in the ongoing disputes involving one of football's most prominent figures.

Eto'o's confrontation with CAF stems from accusations levied against him by a group of Cameroonian football stakeholders.

They reported the FECAFOOT president to the continental body, alleging his involvement in a series of misconducts.

CAF, responding to these claims, initiated an investigation into Eto'o's activities, a move he has vehemently criticized.

"I was never questioned about those accusations. I instructed my lawyers to sue CAF. It was too easy to tarnish everything I had built during these years in football," Eto'o stated, expressing his discontent with CAF's premature announcement of the investigation.

The four-time African Player of the Year has had a tumultuous tenure as FECAFOOT president, marked by his adversarial stance towards FIFA, CAF, and even the Cameroonian government.

Eto'o has often highlighted the political interference in Cameroon's football, attributing much of his troubles to perceived presidential ambitions, especially given his public support for current President Paul Biya and his attendance at George Weah's presidential inauguration in Liberia.

Eto'o's leadership style, characterized by a willingness to confront established football institutions, has not been without controversy.

His tenure has been seen as a litmus test for the viability of footballers transitioning into significant administrative roles within the sport.

While his assertiveness has brought attention to issues of governance and transparency within African football, it has also led to conflicts that some argue have undermined Cameroon's football ambitions.
