FOOTBALL NSL Round Up: Kisumu All Stars stun Mulembe as Rainbow brush aside Silibwet

Kisumu All Stars and Rainbow FC shone in the NSL, while other teams registered mixed results in a competitive weekend.

National Super League (NSL) action was in full swing with four captivating matches played across the country on Sunday. 

Kisumu Allstars, Mulembe United, MCF FC, Dimba Patriots, Rainbow FC, Silibwet FC, SS Assad FC, and Kibera Black Stars were all in action, each team bringing their unique style and strategy to the pitch.

Mumias Sports Complex, Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, the Kenya Institute Of Highways & Building Technology-Nairobi Campus, and Ukunda Showgrounds hosted the matches filled with moments of brilliance.

Kisumu All Stars 2-0 Mulembe United

Kisumu Allstars emerged victorious with a commanding 2-0 win over Mulembe United in a match played at Mumias Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon. 

Otenga dominated the proceedings against a resilient Mulembe in a match that was characterized by its fast pace and strategic plays which saw the Allstars take control early in the match.

Noah Jagongos emerged as the hero for the Allstars, netting a crucial brace that solidified their dominance. His first strike came in the 38th minute breaking the deadlock and shifting the momentum in favor of the visitors. 

Not resting on their laurels, the Allstars continued to press, and it was Jagongos again who dazzled the crowd, doubling the lead in the 52nd minute with a display of individual brilliance.

With this win, the Allstars ascend to fifth place in the league standings, amassing 31 points from 18 matches. Now just nine points shy of the coveted promotion spots, the Allstars are proving to be serious contenders. 

MCF 0-0 Dimba Patriots

At Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, MCF FC and Dimba Patriots played out a goalless draw. 

The match, which kicked off at 1 pm, saw both teams squandering numerous scoring opportunities. 

Despite having chances to break the deadlock, neither side could find the back of the net.

The result leaves MCF FC in 14th place on the league table, accumulating 20 points from their fixtures.

On the other hand, Dimba Patriots managed to move up to the 12th position, now sitting at 21 points after completing 18 matches. 

Rainbow 3-1 Silibwet FC

Rainbow FC found their form again with a convincing 3-1 victory over Silibwet FC at the Kenya Institute Of Highways & Building Technology-Nairobi Campus. 

This win marks a return to winning ways for Rainbow FC, who have been striving to climb up the league standings.

The match saw Ali Salim in fine form, scoring two goals for Rainbow FC. Steiner Musasia added another, contributing to the team's comprehensive victory. 

Silibwet FC, currently struggling at the bottom of the league, managed to get a consolation goal through Hosea Kipchirchir. However, it was not enough to turn the tide against a dominant Rainbow FC side.

SS Assad FC 2-1 Kibera Black Stars

SS Assad FC secured their seventh win of the season by defeating Kibera Black Stars 2-1 at Ukunda Showgrounds. 

The first half concluded with Borkins Adeya putting SS Assad FC ahead with a penalty at the stroke of halftime.

 Kibera Black Stars, undeterred, equalized quickly after the restart, also scoring from the penalty spot. 

The match was evenly poised until Dahili Joackim emerged as the hero for SS Assad, scoring the winning goal in the 67th minute.
