AFC Leopards new chairman Boniface Ambani has finally taken over the reins from outgoing Dan Shikanda as he looks to transform Ingwe.

Boniface Ambani has officially taken over as the new AFC Leopards chairman following his election last weekend.

Ambani was elected the new man at the helm of Ingwe in a peaceful election conducted on June 29 and was officially handed the instruments of power by outgoing chairman Dan Shikanda on Friday.

Shikanda completed his two terms that witnessed some ups and downs at the Den and there is plenty of optimism that former Leopards striker Ambani will revive the club’s fortunes.

At a ceremony at the club’s offices, the new chairman and his predecessor conducted the ceremonial handing over as Ambani, accompanied by the new officials, accepted the challenge of leading Ingwe.

Ambani has promised to revive Leopards buy turning them into a club that can challenge for a Premier League title that they last won in 1998, incidentally when he was part of the team.

What Has Ambani Promised Ingwe Fans?

“We have to do an audit of the playing unit to know who is leaving and who is remaining and also who are the players we target for the new season. We want to build a very strong team for the new season to compete for trophies,” Ambani said following his election.

“AFC leopards is a giant and we should be winning and, in my tenure, this is something I want to ensure becomes a norm.”

Ambani also plans to turn Leopards into a money-minting machine that will attract corporate goodwill and make the club self-sustainable.

“This club is an international brand, not a local one. The way we are treating it, you would assume it is a local one,” he said on TV 47 this week.

“We need to overhaul it. We need to bring in fresh blood, involve so many other guys into football, and we should also be thinking about boosting the entertainment value beyond just the football to boost its profile.”

Ambani’s executive includes newly-elected secretary general Isaac Mulanda Mulindi and treasurer Newton Lime Luchacha.
