Olisa Ndah got off the mark for his South African club Orland Pirates and could be rewarded with a recall to Nigeria's Super Eagles.

Nigerian defender Olisa Ndah has boosted his hopes of an international recall after netting his first goal for Orlando Pirates in their 6-0 win over Crystal Lake FC.

Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that Ndah had gone over four years without scoring despite winning multiple trophies with Akwa United and the Pirates.

Today, the talented defender who stops others from scoring has finally got his name on the score sheet for his club.

The 26-year-old centre-back broke his duck in some style, firing home a sweetly struck header to put Pirates 1-0 up before they went on a rampage against their helpless hosts in the Nedbank Cup.

Ndah's goal came at the perfect time with question marks over Nigeria's options at centre-back for the upcoming friendly against Lionel Messi’s Argentina and 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

AFCON 2023 top man William Troost-Ekong has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a long-term injury, while fullback Zaidu Sanusi also faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

This could open the door for Ndah to earn a recall to the Super Eagles setup, having featured in recent years before missing out on the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations squad.

The former NPFL winner with Akwa United man will miss Pirates' next match through suspension but has otherwise been in excellent form in the South African top flight.

If he can maintain that level, Ndah could soon find himself back in contention as the Super Eagles to make a return to the biggest football fiesta after missing the party in 2022 in Qatar.
