Manchester United have submitted a third bid for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, signalling their determination to sign the Cameroonian winger despite previous rejections.

Manchester United have tabled a third bid for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, potentially reaching £70 million after their two previous offers were rejected.

According to BBC Sport, the offer is believed to comprise an initial £65 million with an additional £5 million in add-ons.

Brentford have yet to respond to the offer, but Manchester United remain confident of securing Bryan Mbeumo and had hoped to integrate the Cameroon international into Ruben Amorim's squad before they departed for three preseason games in the US on Tuesday.

While Manchester United have been linked with Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, their priority has been finalising the Mbeumo deal.

This would allow Ruben Amorim to work with the player in Chicago, the team's primary base during their 13-day US trip.

The 25-year-old impressed last season with 20 Premier League goals, attracting interest from several clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, now under the management of former Brentford boss Thomas Frank. However, Bryan Mbeumo has reportedly favoured a move to Old Trafford.

Newcastle United are also reportedly interested in Brentford's other key striker, Yoane Wissa.

Last season, Ruben Amorim frequently highlighted United's struggles to convert chances. Their 44 Premier League goals marked their lowest tally in a domestic campaign since their relegation in the 1973-74 season.

Manchester United have already acquired forward Matheus Cunha and defender Diego Leon this summer. If Bryan Mbeumo's transfer is successful, it could see captain Bruno Fernandes deployed in a deeper midfield role, with Cunha occupying one of the two inside forward positions behind the main striker in Amorim's preferred formation.

This also diminishes the likelihood of the four forwards currently out of favour, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Antony, returning to the first team.

Manchester United kick off their Premier League campaign against Arsenal at Old Trafford on August 17th.
