Newcastle United are reportedly considering a surprise move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford this summer.

The 27-year-old Rashford has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford, last appearing for the Red Devils in December before a loan spell at Aston Villa for the remainder of the season.

While he impressed at Villa Park, scoring four goals and providing six assists in 17 appearances, his future at Manchester United remains uncertain and he is not in coach Ruben Amorim’s plans.

Rashford's contract, which runs until 2028 and sees him earn £315,000 weekly, could present a hurdle to any potential transfer. However, according to the Dailymail, Newcastle believe they can offer Rashford the perfect environment to revitalise his career, including the allure of Champions League football.

Although Rashford's preferred destination is reportedly Barcelona, with his agent having met with the club's sporting director Deco last month, no move has materialised. Manchester United reportedly value Rashford at around £40 million and would prefer a permanent sale, while Newcastle are said to be exploring a loan deal.

Rashford is eager to play in the Champions League as he aims to secure a spot in the England squad for upcoming international tournaments. He missed recent international matches due to a hamstring injury.

Rashford Wanted to Complement Isak

Newcastle reportedly view Rashford as an additional attacking option to complement their current striker, Alexander Isak.

Following his initial exclusion from the Manchester United squad, Rashford expressed his desire for a "new challenge."

“For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” he told Henry Winter in an interview.

“When I leave it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person.

“If I know that a situation is already bad I’m not going to make it worse. I’ve seen how other players have left in the past and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave I’ll make a statement and it will be from me.'"

Before his loan move to Villa, Amorim had suggested Rashford needed to "change" to regain his place, making a return to Old Trafford seem improbable.
