A presenter was forced to apologise after Nigeria legend John Obi Mikel used foul language to slam Chelsea Nicolas Jackson following the Chelsea striker’s red card against Flamengo.
Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel didn't mince words, labeling Nicolas Jackson's sending-off a "stupid, stupid, stupid mistake" after the striker received a red card in Chelsea's 3-1 Club World Cup defeat to Flamengo.
DAZN host Kelly Somers even had to apologise for Mikel's heated language during the broadcast.
The red card capped off a disastrous six-minute spell for Chelsea. Leading 1-0 thanks to a Pedro Neto goal after 61 minutes, the Blues conceded twice in quick succession to Bruno Henrique and Danilo, finding themselves 2-1 down and a man light by the 67th minute.

3 Reasons Chelsea Boss Enzo Maresca Needs to Axe Nicolas Jackson
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca must consider cutting his losses with striker Nicolas Jackson after Club World Cup showing.
Referee Ivan Arcides Barton Cisneros had no choice but to show him a straight red. This incident mirrors Jackson's premature end to the Premier League season, where he received a three-match ban for a similar challenge against Newcastle in May.
What Did Mikel Say About Jackson’s Red Card?

Mikel, providing punditry for DAZN, was particularly incensed by the incident. When it was suggested that Jackson's frustration might stem from competition with Liam Delap for the striker position, Mikel retorted, "I don't care what his frustration is. It's a football club. It's a massive football club and it's about competition.”
“If you're p*ssed off that Delap's coming to the football club and he's going to be competition with you... you have to embrace it if you are a big player. Because the only way you are going to win trophies is if you compete against each other,” he added as per the Dailymail.
Jackson later apologised on Instagram, stating, "I want to say sorry. To the club, the staff, my teammates, and all the fans watching, I let you down. Another red card... and honestly, I'm so angry at myself.”

Revealed: 4 Players Manchester United Manager Ruben Amorim Will Leave Behind for US Tour
A source has revealed the four players to be left at Old Trafford by Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim ahead of the club's US tour.
“I work hard every day to help the team not to put us in this kind of situation. I still don't fully understand how it happened. But one thing is clear: it wasn't intentional. Just a football moment that went the wrong way. No excuses. I take full responsibility. I'll reflect, I'll grow, and I'll come back stronger for the badge and for everyone who believes in me. Sorry. Sorry."
The red card marred Jackson's 24th birthday and intensified the competition with Delap for the starting striker role. Wallace Yan added a third goal for Flamengo late in the game, capitalising on poor Chelsea defending to seal the victory.
