Argentina captain Lionel Messi talks about the possibility of participating at the next World Cup.

Inter Miami star Lionel Messi spoke about his continuation with the Argentine national team concerning the World Cup in 2026.

The 36-year-old led the Albiceleste to their third Mundial in the last tournament and was expected to retire, given his age and the scope of the achievement.

However, he continued beyond Qatar 2022 and has been involved in the CONMEBIOL World Cup qualifiers for Argentina, inviting inquiries on the possibility of him playing in the next edition when he is 39.

What Messi said

The former Barcelona man had one of his rare exclusive interviews when he was asked about the possibility of participating in the next World Cup.

The Argentine failed to give a definitive answer, as he had done previously when he said Qatar was his last World Cup; this time the ex-PSG man left the option open.

He confirmed that he plans on playing in the Copa America hosted by the USA next year, and on the matter of the next edition of the Mundial, the father of three kicked the can down the road.

“I want to arrive at the next Copa America in good condition, then I will see, depending on how I am,” he told Olga, per Fabrizio Romano.

“I'm not thinking about the next World Cup yet. The years have passed, and we have to see how I feel. I will see it day by day.
