Chelsea have unleashed their new striker as they look to offer competition to Nicolas Jackson ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Chelsea have confirmed the signing of striker Liam Delap from Ipswich Town for £30 million after activating the release clause in his contract. The young forward has signed a six-year deal with the Blues.
Chelsea have been searching for a player to provide competition and support for Nicolas Jackson up front, and Delap has emerged as their top target. Despite Ipswich Town's relegation back to the Championship, Delap impressed with 12 goals last season.
Several clubs were reportedly interested in Delap, but he chose Chelsea, believing it offers the best environment for his development. Sources suggest he was drawn to Enzo Maresca's playing style, the existing squad quality, and the club's ambition to compete for major honors.
