Kenya's CHAN 2024 and AFCON 2027 preparations have been boosted after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) signed a multi-million partnership deal in order to help run the tournament.

Kenya’s preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) have received a major boost after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) renewed its sponsorship agreement with Chinese smartphone giant Tecno Mobile.

The new deal, unveiled during a press conference at the Glee Hotel in Nairobi on Wednesday, will see Tecno serve as the exclusive smartphone partner for both the 2025 and 2027 AFCON editions, set to be staged in Morocco and East Africa respectively.

CAF Secretary General Véron Mosengo-Omba and Tecno Vice President Shiming Jiang led the official ceremony to reaffirm the partnership, which began during the successful 2023 tournament hosted in Côte d’Ivoire.

“We began this journey with Tecno during the Africa Cup of Nations, and it was a great success, as many of you know,” Mosengo-Omba said.

“Tecno is eager to continue this journey with us, and we are excited to move forward together.”

The 2025 AFCON will be hosted in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026 — marking only the second time the North African nation will stage the continent’s biggest football event since 1988.

The 2027 edition, the 36th in the tournament's history, will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania under the "Pamoja" banner, symbolizing unity and shared ambition across the East African region.

Tecno, which was also the exclusive smartphone sponsor for the 2023 AFCON, played a key role in driving record-breaking viewership and strong fan engagement across the continent. With this renewed agreement, the company looks to build on that momentum.

“This marks our second collaboration, and both organizations share a deep connection,” said Tecno Vice President Shiming Jiang. “Tecno is fully committed to Africa – this continent is our home. It has always been our dream to help make the dreams of Africa’s youth a reality.”

Mosengo-Omba added that Tecno’s involvement goes beyond commercial interest, pointing to the brand’s support for sports and youth development through technological innovation and meaningful partnerships.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed praised the renewed deal as a critical moment for African football and a call to action for the private sector.

“As CHAN and AFCON approach and the Pamoja bid becomes a reality for Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, we want to urge other corporate partners and private sector players to join hands with us. Let’s work together to make the upcoming competitions bigger and better than ever.”

The renewed partnership between CAF and Tecno is set to strengthen football’s reach across Africa, elevate the fan experience, and empower local communities — further positioning the continent as a rising force on the global sporting stage.
