Lionel Messi sent his wishes to former teammate Marco Verratti who joined Stars League side Al-Arabi.

Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi has wished his former teammate Marco Verratti luck after the midfielder completed a move to Qatari side Al-Arabi.

The pair shared a dressing room at Paris Saint-Germain for two seasons, and in both campaigns, they lifted the Ligue 1 title.

Verratti signs for Al-Arabi

The 31-year-old ended his 11-year association with PSG this summer, joining Al-Arabi for a reported fee of €45 million.

Verratti was the longest-serving player at the club, winning nine league titles in 11 seasons. However, the club is rebuilding and wants to move on from the injury-prone Italian international, hence placing him on the transfer list.

After a long period of negotiation, he has found a new club, and via the PSG website, he announced his farewell to Le Parisien.

“I’ve been very proud to play for Paris Saint-Germain for over a decade, to rub shoulders with so many great players, and to win 30 trophies. Paris, the club, and its fans will always hold a very special place in my heart. I’ll forever be a Parisian.”

The Century Club also confirmed their acquisition of the diminutive midfielder using a video they posted on their official channels.

Messi wishes Verratti luck

Messi, like Verratti, was one of the big exits from Paris this season. The Argentine turned down the chance to extend his contract at the club and headed to Inter Miami.

Following the confirmation of Verratti’s move to PSG, Messi took to his Instagram to congratulate him and wish him well on the next phase of his career.

"All the luck in your new stage, @marco_verratti92!!! You already know I wish you the best always."
