Kenya Police Bullets have dethroned Vihiga Queens as the FKF Women’s Premier League champions following a big win against Zetech while their rivals faltered in the season finale.

Kenya Police Bullets have been crowned the FKF Women’s Premier League champions following a 5-0 thrashing of Zetech Sparks in the season finale on Saturday.

Police headed into the final day with a three-point advantage over outgoing champions Vihiga Queens and also had a three-goal edge over their title rivals but completed the job inside 25 minutes.

The floodgates opened after just four minutes when a freekick from captain Juliet Andibo from 40 yards out caught the Zetech goalkeeper unawares and it took seven minutes before the second arrived.

Striker Rebecca Okwaro positioned herself well between the Zetech defenders before beating the offside trap to latch onto a good ball floated behind the backline to slot home.

Lucy Kwekwe put the result beyond doubt in the 18th minute with an easy shot that the Zetech goalkeeper should have saved.

There was still more from the law enforcers, however, Kwekwe completing her brace for her side’s fourth inside 22 minutes, with Okwaro also on the double after hammering home the fifth goal three minutes later.

With Vihiga United playing to a goalless draw with Nakuru City Queens, Police secured the title with an unassailable 46 points to their rivals’ 41.

It has been a remarkable season for big-spending Police, who ended the campaign unbeaten after 14 wins and four draws.

Beldine Odemba’s charges were also the league’s highest scorers with 50 goals, 10 more than Vihiga.

Police are celebrating a title win in the first season since the change of names from Thika Queens following the club’s acquisition by the Kenya Police, in a bid to comply with Confederation of African Football’s regulations last year.
