New Kenya star Chrispine Erambo has revealed why Teddy Akumu made the biggest impression on him during the Malawi Four Nations tournament.
Newly capped Harambee Stars sensation Chrispine Erambo has revealed exactly how former Gor Mahia and Kaizer Chiefs star Anthony Akumu inspired him when he linked up with the side.
Akumu has become an integral part of the team under the stewardship of head coach Engin Firat despite being unattached after ending his forgettable spell with Japanese top flight side Sagan Tosu.
When asked why Firat opted to include him in the squad, the Turkish tactician praised his high levels of professionalism as a big reason he is part of the leadership team.
"Anthony is a top professional player and he has been training very well even though he is clubless.
Physically he is in top shape. He has done well for us and there was no reason to omit him. He is joining a new team outside the country very soon," he said.
Now, Erambo, who has risen to prominence with Tusker and earned two caps for the side in Malawi in March, has appeared to agree with Firat on Akumu’s high levels of professionalism, considering he was the first to report to camp.
“Akumu inspired me because when we got into camp and he was already there,” Erambo told Sports Eye.

Ochieng will spend the next three months trialing with the club in the hope he can secure a deal.
Despite just being with him for a little over 10 days, Erambo has already described Teddy as his “best friend” in the side.
“I spoke with him and we got along very well. He is already a bestie in camp!”
Meanwhile, the energetic midfielder has thanked Firat for giving him his debut in the side, and has hoped to appear for the side more in future.
“Thank you for the call up and for giving me my debut and hope to appear again in the next call up.”
