Erambo was unusually subbed off after just 25 minutes as Kenya had to claw back from a goal down to win 3-1 in Malawi last March.

Harambee Stars midfielder Chrispine Erambo has opened up on how he reacted to being subbed off after 25 minutes despite the side’s win over Zimbabwe in the final of the Malawi Four Nations tournament.

Reflecting on the pivotal moment, Erambo emphasized the importance of maintaining composure, especially during a final match where emotions can run high.

Rather than dwelling on his early substitution, Erambo shifted his focus to supporting his teammate Kenneth Muguna, who replaced him on the field and ultimately made a significant impact on the game.

“It was the final. You cannot afford to be angry. You have to keep pushing because it was a good chance to win my first trophy with the national team,” Erambo said on Sports Eye Sports.

“I had to support (Kenneth Muguna) when he got subbed on in my place and he changed the game, which he ended up winning,” Erambo remarked, highlighting the importance of teamwork and unity within the squad.

“I will keep working as hard as I did hoping the call will come up again.”

Despite the disappointment of being substituted early, Erambo remains determined and focused on his goals.

Erambo also expressed gratitude towards the coaching staff, particularly for the encouragement and support he received from the head coach Engin Firat.

Erambo has described Firat as a proper person who wants the best for his players.

“He is friendly and encouraging. He told me ‘I am the one who has called you up’. No favor has been made. I believe in you.”

As Erambo continues to strive for excellence on the field, his mature and positive outlook in the face of adversity serves as a testament to his character and determination.

With his unwavering commitment to improvement and teamwork, Erambo undoubtedly remains a valuable asset to the Harambee Stars and a promising talent for the future.
