Anyembe was among the big names missing from the provisional Harambee Stars squad released earlier this week.

Harambee Stars defender Daniel Anyembe played a vital role as a right back as Viborg claimed yet another win over OB in a Danish relegation place-playoff clash that took place on Saturday afternoon to end their season on a high.

Anyembe has been an ever-fixture at right back since returning to full fitness last March. He has scored one goal and registered two assists in 24 appearances for Viborg, and now looks sharp enough to help Kenya achieve their targets at the upcoming Word Cup qualifiers set to take place in Malawi against Burundi and Ivory Coast on 7 and 11 June.

The match, held at Viborg's home ground, was pivotal for both teams. Viborg needed a win to keep their hopes for a European playoff alive, while OB required three points to avoid relegation.

The visitors from Odense started strongly, showcasing quick combinations and aggressiveness in their duels. This early pressure paid off in the 11th minute when Max Fenger broke through on the left wing and scored from a tight angle, putting OB in the lead.

OB continued to dominate, nearly doubling their lead when Max Ejdum's shot hit the post. Viborg struggled to create clear opportunities, although Jakob Vester had a notable attempt that required a save from OB's goalkeeper, Myhra.

Viborg came out stronger in the second half, maintaining possession and pressing OB back into their half. Just five minutes after the restart, Viborg equalized. Oliver Bundgaard delivered a precise cross to the back post, where Anosike Ementa headed it down for Jakob Vester, who finished calmly to make it 1-1.

The goal energized Viborg, and they intensified their pressure on OB. Despite OB's attempts to regain control, Viborg's solid defense, anchored by Anyembe, kept their chances to a minimum.

In the 75th minute, Viborg took the lead. Anosike Ementa found Magnus Westergaard with a deft pass, and Westergaard finished clinically, putting Viborg ahead 2-1. OB's attempts to equalize were thwarted by a resolute Viborg defense, with Anyembe playing a key role in keeping the visitors at bay.

The match saw a brief interruption three minutes before the end when OB fans threw fireworks onto the pitch, resulting in a 15-minute delay. Despite the extended stoppage time, Viborg held firm to secure the victory.
