Ng’ang’a was arguably one of the best defenders of the season and had there been gifting of awards, it would not have been surprising to see him lift that accolade.

Gor Mahia defender Dennis Ng’ang’a has slammed the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) for failing to award individuals following the end of the 2022/2023 season.

Ng’ang’a was crucial to K’Ogalo at the heart of defence as they delivered a historic 20th league title, with his assured defensive presence and a belter of a left foot helping the side both with and without possession.

Ng’ang’a was arguably the defender of the season and had there been an end-of-season awards gala, it would not have been surprising to see him lift that accolade.

As a result, the former KCB and Wazito defender has slammed the federation for failing to recognize individual performances, something that has not been done since the 2020/2021 season.

“The federation slept on their job,” Ng’ang’a told Skilz TV. “You find out that at the end of the day, the league did not have statisticians this season, “ he added.

“Yes, there is chasing the trophy as a team, but there are also individual accolades (that should have been given to players). I think it was not right in my opinion.”

Meanwhile, Ng’ang’a has also chosen to look at the bright side of things, saying that lifting a trophy with his team was the most important thing, given they won the league relatively against the odds.

“I will remember this season because of this trophy. It is my first-ever trophy in the Kenya Premier League. I will never forget it in my life. When we started, everyone doubted us, including our fans, but we have grown and brought the trophy home.”

Ng’ang’a will be hoping to build on his impressive performances next season in order to achieve even more milestones.
