As football markets are opening doors to foreign players, Kenya champions Gor Mahia are moving in the opposite direction.
Gor Mahia has released Uganda winger Peter Lwasa after the Kenya giants were not interested in the renewal of the contract with the player.
The former Sofapaka and Kariobangi Sharks player leaves Gor Mahia as a free agent ahead of the 2023/24 season.
The development comes after Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier recently announced that they would not be signing foreign players.
The Kenya champions have been entangled in a series of FIFA sanctions for breach of contract of former players, mainly foreign players.

Lwasa's departure marks the end of an era amidst challenges for Gor Mahia.
"It looks like many of the foreign-based players we have been signing only come here to cause us problems and take money without giving us value," Rachier told Nairobi-based Radio 47 on August 5.
"We've had a discussion as the top leadership of the club, and for now, we are not going to sign any foreign player," he added.
Gor Mahia were kicked out CAF Champions League after three former players, Burundian striker Jules Ulimwengu, Congolese attacker Yangayay Sando Sando and Malian goalkeeper Adama Keita reported the club to FIFA for failure to pay their salaries.
The foreign players remaining at the club are Ugandan striker Patrick Kaddu and Rwandan defender Emery Bayisenge.
The 20-time Kenyan champions will open their 2023/24 season against FKF Cup winner Kakamega Homeboyz in the FKF Charity Shield at Kasarani Stadium on August 12.
