The 34-year-old, now retired striker was a big talent in his youth but struggled to live up to the projection his gifts promised as he struggled with injuries.

He now works as a pundit and when asked which strikers outside the English top-flight teams in the league should keep an eye on, he mentioned two African Bundesliga stars.
What Sturridge said
In a conversation with another former Liverpool player, Jamie Carragher, Sturridge was asked by the former defender to give Premier League teams scouting advice on attacking talents outside England.
Sturridge said: "Guirassy, who's 2nd in goalscoring charts in Germany and Boniface, who's at Leverkusen."

Although Guirassy is no spring chicken, as he is 27, his brilliant goalscoring exploits for Stuttgart this season cannot be ignored, especially with the dearth of striker talents in the transfer market.
Prior to Harry Kane’s hat-trick this weekend, the Guinean striker was the top-scoring player in the Bundesliga. He, however, still sits second on the rankings with 14 goals in only eight appearances.
Boniface, on the other hand, can lay claim to being the best player in Germany this season, striker or not. His Leverkusen side are at the top of the league, thanks in part to him and his 12 goal contributions.
Also, as Pulse Sports reported, Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has been nominated for a third consecutive Bundesliga Rookie of the Month Award.
