But few have been as heartfelt and as bold as Bernardo Silva's, who did not mince his words when he named the Belgian as the greatest player in the club's history.

De Bruyne hailed as Manchester City's GOAT by teammates

According to Bernardo Silva, the impending exit of De Bruyne is not just a squad change, it is the loss of a piece of the club’s soul.

Speaking on De Bruyne’s departure, Silva said, “It’s sad. It’s tough for us; we wanted him to stay. No disrespect to others, but for me, he’s the greatest player in Manchester City’s history.”

That is no small claim, especially considering the legendary names who have worn the sky blue jersey, including the likes of Sergio Agüero, David Silva, Vincent Kompany, and Yaya Toure.

But Bernardo doubled down, praising De Bruyne’s unmatched creativity in the final third and his influence across eight trophy-laden seasons. He credited the Belgian maestro as one of the central reasons for Manchester City’s domestic and European dominance.

De Bruyne leaves Manchester City with big shoes to fill

Another Manchester City teammate, Ilkay Gundogan, echoed the sentiment, saying that while the club will adapt, replacing De Bruyne will be nearly impossible.

Gundogan said, “He’s irreplaceable. No one can simply step in and fill his boots,” acknowledging the void De Bruyne will leave behind.

With 417 appearances and 18 trophies to his name, De Bruyne’s contributions to Manchester City’s growing history have been immeasurable.

Gundogan, who formed a close bond with the Belgian both on and off the pitch, called it a “privilege” to play alongside him and a “remarkable” chapter in the club’s modern history.

As Manchester City brace for life without their playmaking genius, one thing is now clear: within the squad, at least, Kevin De Bruyne has already secured his place on the throne as the greatest to ever do it in Manchester City colours.
