Winger Bukayo Saka and defender William Saliba will be missing in action for England and France, respectively, after both players withdrew from the upcoming international break to focus on recovery.

Saka has been struggling with a muscle injury that forced him to miss the Gunners famous victory over Manchester City, while Saliba, who played against the Cityzens, picked up a toe injury during the game, which has ruled him out of the France squad.

Both players will now be forced to sit out games for their countries while they recuperate from their injuries, so they can potentially return for Arsenal when the international break is over.

Saka and Saliba out of international action

Saka will miss England’s friendly against Australia as well as the 2024 European Championships qualifier against Italy, while Saliba will miss France’s fixtures against the Netherlands and Scotland.

It is uncertain when either player will return to action, with Saka thought to be worse off than Saliba after not participating in Arsenal training since getting injured against Tottenham.

Saliba will be replaced in the France squad by Manchester United transfer target Jean Claude Todibo, while it is still unclear who will replace Saka in the England squad.
