After a great start to his indoor tour, Ferdinand Omanyala will be taking a short break from training before resuming for the World Indoor Championships.

Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala will take a short break from training before resuming and gearing up for the World Indoor Championships at the Commonwealth Arena in Glasgow, United Kingdom from March 1 to 3.

Omanyala has proven to be in great form since he began his indoor season where he has been unbeaten. He started with a national record at the Elite Indoor Track Miramas Meeting, clocking 6.52 to win the race.

He then proceeded to the Meeting in Paris, where he lowered that time, clocking 6.51 to win the race. Omanyala cut the tape first ahead of Emmanuel Matadi and Azu Jeremiah who finished second and third in respective times of 6.57 seconds and 6.59 seconds.

In a post on his X (Twitter) handle, Omanyala’s coach Geoffrey Kimani was in awe of his performance at the event and expressed gratitude to his fans for the well wishes.

“Two great competition weekends...back-to-back National Records and Meet records...appreciate all the great wishes and messages for Ferdinand Omanyala and team. We take a small break then start building again for the finale> World Indoor Championships,” Kimani said.

Meanwhile, Omanyala is among the 11 athletes who have been selected to fly the country’s flag high in Glasgow and he will be Kenya’s sole representative in the 60m.

The Commonwealth Games champion will be seeking to make an impact, owing to the fact that he will be a newbie at the event and will be looking to floor the likes of triple World Champion Noah Lyles and the world record holder over the distance, Christian Coleman.
