Eliud Kipchoge has opened up about the one thing he was most afraid of after switching to the full marathon and how he managed to overcome that.
Back in 2013, Eliud Kipchoge toed the line for his first marathon, taking the Hamburg Marathon title with a time of 2:05:30.
The same year, the former world marathon record holder proceeded to claim second place at the Berlin Marathon, clocking 2:04:05 to cross the finish line.

Just like every other marathon debutant, Eliud Kipchoge was afraid he would suffer severe muscle pain and probably fail to continue with the race after the 5km mark.
“That was a really big fear when I started the marathon. But after training, learning the tricks, learning the ropes on how to train for a marathon, then I can go through it in a good way,” Kipchoge told Runner’s World.
