The BOA has revealed the three marathon runners for Paris 2024 who are poised to challenge elites like Eliud Kipchoge at the Olympic Games.

The British Olympic Association (BOA) has announced the final two marathon athletes set to complete Team GB's roster for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with sights firmly set on challenging marathon greats like Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge.

Emile Cairess and Mahamed Mahamed will join Phil Sesemann to form a formidable trio representing Britain in the grueling 42.195-kilometer event scheduled for August 10th and 11th.

Cairess and Mahamed earned their spots after delivering outstanding performances at the 2024 London Marathon where they climbed to second and third on the UK's all-time men's marathon list respectively.

Cairess's time of 2:06:46 secured him third place overall and positioned him just behind Sir Mo Farah on the national leaderboard.

Mahamed, on the other hand, clocked in at 2:07:05, surpassing 1984 Olympian Steve Jones and signaling his readiness for his Olympic debut.

"I'm thrilled to welcome Emile and Mahamed to Team GB for the Paris Olympics.

"Their inclusion completes a strong lineup of debutants who I believe are fully capable of making their mark on the iconic Parisian streets," said Team GB Chef de Mission, Mark England.

In addition to the men's team, Rose Harvey will be joining the women's marathon squad alongside Charlotte Purdue and Calli Thackery, following her impressive 2:23:21 finish at last year’s Chicago Marathon.

At 31, Harvey has shown she is a serious contender, having secured two top 10 finishes in major marathons recently.

"The dedication and resilience shown by Emile, Mahamed, and Rose have rightly earned them their places at the Games.

"Just like their teammates Phil, Charlotte, and Calli, who were selected earlier, we are committed to supporting them through these final weeks of preparation. We aim to ensure they are at their peak come race day,," stated Paula Dunn, Olympic Head Coach at UK Athletics.

Team GB's final athletics team will be unveiled following the UK Athletics Championships and Trials weekend on July 5, 2024.

This announcement will confirm the full lineup of athletes across all track and field events setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling competition in Paris.
