The time Kishane Thompson clocked was the fastest since 2015, and his focus now shifts to the global championships, where he will be going for nothing but gold. In the race, Oblique Seville and Ackeem Blake finished second and third in respective times of 9.83 and 9.88 seconds.

Despite becoming the sixth-fastest man in the world, Kishane Thompson believes he has more to give.
“Tokyo, here I come,” Kishane Thompson shared in a post on his Instagram handle after the Jamaican Championships.
From his message, Kishane Thompson is eagerly waiting for the clash on the highest stage in the main event of the season, and this time around, he will not be looking to finish second.

But before then, Kishane Thompson will compete in a series of events, including the Prefontaine Classic, scheduled for Saturday, July 5.
The 23-year-old will line up against a strong field that includes young and experienced sprinters, but he has all it takes to impress.
The second-fastest man in the world in 2025, Trayvon Bromell, will be lining up for the men’s 100m with double world under-20 champion Bayanda Walaza and Christian Coleman also in the mix.
Ackeem Blake and Lachlan Kennedy have also been confirmed for the event. Great Britain’s Zharnel Hughes and Brandon Hicklin will also be competing at the event.
Kishane Thompson has been consistent this season, competing in several events and giving Jamaican fans hope ahead of the World Championships test.
He started his season with an indoor campaign before finishing second at the Diamond League Meeting in Keqiao. He then raced at the JAAA WA Championships Preparation #1 and Racers Grand Prix, taking wins before his recent exploits at the Jamaican Championships.
