Ferdinand Omanyala has disclosed one shocking thing he discovered about his body after doing tests at the state-of-the-art Red Bull Athlete Performance Centre in Salzburg, Austria.

Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala has opened up on the tests he did during his visit to the state-of-the-art Red Bull Athlete Performance Centre in Salzburg, Austria.

Omanyala noted that in one of the tests, the results revealed some shocking things, which was an eye-opener for him and his coach.

The Commonwealth Games 100m champion also revealed that he had done some tests with his coach, Geoffrey Kimani at the beginning of the season but they were not as extensive as the ones conducted in Austria.

“In Austria, I went to do very insightful tests. There were tests that we did with the coach at the beginning of the season but now we went to specific tests," Omanyala said on NTV.

“The ankle mobility tests, calf strength tests, and adductors and abductors tests, and the funny thing we realised that my left core is weak…the way I’m big and with all those abs it was confirmed that I have a weak left core.

“We got a lot of answers and a lot of insights from the three days that we spent there and we were given workouts that would help with that. Coach always encourages us to never stop learning and so any chance that presents itself we will just grab it."

Kimani also insisted on the importance of the tests, noting that they act as a guide to a coach.

“Before every test, a coach is given something like a battery of things that they can look at. We got the detail part from them, that you get to understand where your athlete is and if you are not heading to your goals, it will help you write a programme that will help fix those things.

“If you want your athlete to compete consistently in those levels, you need those kinds of tests. Ideally, we were supposed to do those tests at the beginning of the season and every four to six weeks we also need to do another test,” he said.
