He revealed that his next stop will be at the Diamond League Meeting in Oslo, Norway, on Thursday, June 15.

Reigning Africa 1500m champion Abel Kipsang has revealed that his main goal this year is to win a medal at the World Championships slated for August 19 to 27 in Budapest, Hungary.

Kipsang, 26, revealed that he is tired of finishing outside the podium bracket and he will be vying for a place among the top three finishers.

He added that his major undoing is failing to know when to unleash the finishing kick which sees him finish fourth most of the time.

“This year I will be vying for a podium finish…I always try my best and my body feels good so far. Most of the time I end up finishing fourth…my major problem is that I’m always afraid of kicking.

"If I stay at the back, I won’t manage to catch up when someone decides to go before I do. I also have to improve on my speed,” he said.

The former world indoor 800m bronze medallist opened his season with a win at the Botswana Golden Grand Prix (800m). He then jetted back into the country for the Kip Keino Classic where he finished second behind youngster Reynold Cheruiyot (1500).

He then competed at the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat, Morocco where he finished fifth in the 1500m.

He noted that his next stop will be at the Diamond League Meeting in Oslo, Norway slated for Thursday, June 15 before he comes back for the National trials for the World Championships.

“My body feels good and I am happy with the progress. After the World Championships, I will continue with the Diamond League Meetings,” he said.
