Luke Shaw Reveals Why Ruben Amorim Kicked Out Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Co Out of Man United
Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has given an insight into what has led to the fallout between coach Ruben Amorim and a number of big-name players at the club.
Amorim has been at United since November 2024, when he replaced Dutchman Erik ten Hag, and in the first casualty of his strong management was Marcus Rashford.
Rashford was frozen out of the squad last December after just one month under Amorim and by January 2025, he was shipped out on loan to Aston Villa.

The same applied to winger Antony, who went on loan to Real Betis while as the season came to a close youngster Alejandro Garnacho was told to find a new club after Amorim was reportedly not impressed by his attitude.
Why Has Amorim Fallen Out with Some United Stars?
Now, Shaw has opened up on the management style of the Portuguese coach which has seen some players fall by the wayside as he seeks to raise standards and revive United.
"It's not hard to see from the outside what it's been like. A lot of the time I've been here over the last few years it's been extremely negative," Shaw said as quoted by the BBC.
"It can be quite toxic, the environment, it's not healthy at all. We need an environment that's healthy, that's positive, that's got good energy and happiness. When you have all those things, you feel free and you express yourself more.
"Ruben brings demands. Mentality is a big thing. He talks a lot about it. He demands 100% and doesn't want anything less. If someone's doing 85-90%, it's not enough. I think, especially this year, if you're not doing the right things, you won't play."
Amorim Does Not Care About How Big Players Are
Shaw says Amorim has demanded that everyone puts the team first while senior players like him are now with the responsibility of setting the right example for the rest.
"The more experienced ones need to be demanding more, day in, day out. The levels in training, keeping to the times of when we're doing this or that, making sure no-one's coming late,” he added.
"The manager's not bothered. He doesn't care who the player is. That's how it should be. Whatever he wants, as players, we have to be delivering – and we are fully behind that."
Rashford and Garnacho are both fan favourites at United as they came through the club’s academy but their futures are now away from Old Trafford with the former securing a loan move to Barcelona while the latter is attracting interest from Premier League and Serie A clubs.
