Should Shujaa win the tournament, they will automatically qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Kenya Sevens will commence day two of the Africa Sevens Championships being held in Harare, Zimbabwe, knowing that winning the tournament will not only enable them to qualify for the Olympics next year but also give them a chance to participate in the Challenger Series, which serves as a platform to return to the World Series at the first time of asking.

After topping pool B of the championships, Shujaa was placed in the quarter-finals against Burkina Faso.

In the group stages, the Kenyans took to the tournament effortlessly, closing out the pool with a 100% record after defeating Zambia 38-12 in their final pool match.

In the group stages, the Kenyans took to the tournament like ducks to water, closing out the pool with a 100% record after defeating Zambia 38-12 in their final pool match.

They beat Nigeria 34-10 in their opening encounter and then brushed aside Namibia 50-0 in the second match.

Unless they get complacent, they should easily deal with the threat of Burkina Faso, who qualified for the last eight by finishing as one of the best third-placed teams alongside Nigeria.

Should they beat Burkina Faso, they will stare at a real chance of facing one of hosts Zimbabwe or Madagascar in one of the semi-finals, and then potentially face South Africa in the final.

South Africa are set to play Nigeria and should they beat them, they will face one of Uganda or Madagascar in the semi-finals.

Captain Vincent Onyala will be seeking to continue leading by example in the quater finals, as his squad leading five tries have galvanized the side into pushing itself so far.

More players have also impressed so far, including Nygel Amasita, who has netted four tries, with three of them in one match against Nigeria.

Tony Omondi’s conversions have also been particularly crisp so far, and they have been the icing on the cake on Shujaa’s dominant pool display. They will be needed in the championship rounds.
