Malkia Strikers’ head coach Paul Bitok has revealed that they have acquired the Ulinzi Sports Complex as the venue for the 2023 Paul Bitok tournament set for Friday 7 to Sunday 9 April.

The tournament was initially to be staged at the Kiminini Primary School Grounds but the venue was changed due to logistical challenges.

The other venues where the event will be staged include the Moi International Sports Center Indoor Arena and the Nyayo National Stadium.

“We are ready to host the tournament. We have 12 registered teams for men and nine for women. We also have a new venue, the Ulinzi Complex, and we shall be using it for the first time for the tournament,” Bitok said.

In the women’s category, Pipeline headlines Pool A and they will be up against Nairobi Water, KDF, and DCI. Reigning Africa Club Champions KCB have been drawn in Pool B against arch-rivals Kenya Prisons, Kenya Army, Nairobi Prisons, and Postbank.

The top teams in both men and women categories will be battling for a prize purse of Ksh100,000 while the runners-up will walk away with Ksh50,000.

Meanwhile, Bitok also underscored the need to develop and nurture volleyball talent from the grassroots level as he is also running a parallel competition in Kiminini.
