The team fought hard but unfortunately succumbed to Egypt’s Zamalek SC in the 2023 final.

Kenya Pipeline Company coach Paul Gitau believes that come next year, the team will lift the African Volleyball Clubs Championship.

Gitau led the Oilers to an impressive second-place finish at this year’s tourney held in Tunisia and he is bullish that there is more to come.

The team fought hard but unfortunately succumbed to Egypt’s Zamalek SC in the final. They lost 1-3 in the highly-contested match.

“For the trophy, I am still waiting. I know it’s on the way coming and I don’t want to rush this. The next championship will be ours and by that time, the team will have matured,” he said.

He added that this year has been great for the team and he is looking forward to greater things ahead.

The Oilers started the year with a seismic win that saw them thrash former African Champions KCB during the Kenya Volleyball Federation National League playoffs.

Their 3-1 (18-25, 25-22, 25-19, 26-24) win over KCB at the Moi International Sports Center Indoor Arena saw them crowned National League Champions.

Speaking about this year's continental event, he revealed that their goal was to play in the final and they had achieved their dream.

“Going into the championship, we had a mission to play in the final. It was the biggest achievement in my career since we agreed on what we wanted to achieve this season and our dream came true,” he said.

He added that he will not give up on giving chances to the young players since they are the future of the team.

“I am very happy with my young players…it is not about today, nor tomorrow but it is about the next assignment and I’m sure they will do well,” he said
