VOLLEYBALL Kenya Pipeline duo win individual awards at Africa Volley Championships

The Oilers finished second after they fell to Zamalek Sporting Club of Egypt .

Trizah Atuka and Naomi Too bagged individual awards on Monday evening as the curtains came down on the women's Volleyball Africa Club championship in Hammamet, Tunisia.

Atuka won the Best Middle Blocker award, while Too was named Best Opposite.

Kenya Pipeline failed to bring the trophy home after losing 3-1 ( 22-25, 25-18,15-22, 17-25 ) to Zamalek in the final.

Zamalek won Most Valuable Player, Best Middle Blocker and Best Setter to crown the incredible outing that saw them land the coveted continental trophy.

Faridah Ahmed grabbed MVP and Best Middle Block, while her counterpart Hanah Sanad won Best Setter.

Third-placed Carthage also won two awards as Jihen Mohamed emerged as the Best Outside Hitter, while Raghda Smida was named the Best Libero.

On their way to the final, Kenya Pipeline beat Tunisia's Carthage 3-2 (25-18, 27-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-9) in the last four.

The loss to the Egyptian was the Oilers' first in the competition, having won all group-stage matches and the knockout fixtures.

Tunisia hosted the tournament for the third consecutive year, having successfully staged the 2021 and 2022 editions in Kelibia and Tunis, respectively.

The 2023 edition saw the men's competition occur from 9 to 22 May, while the women's tournament served off on 13 May and ended on 26 May, both in Tunis.
