Reigning Wimbledon junior doubles champion Angella Okutoyi will return to Kenya for the prestigious Billy Jean King Group 3 tennis championship scheduled for June 12 to 17 at the Nairobi Club.
An excited Okutoyi posted on her Twitter account asking if everyone is ready for next month’s showdown.

ITTF President pledges support for table tennis in Africa
Sorling hailed Kenya Table Tennis for the successful hosting of the Africa Cup.

The 19-year-old will be up against some of the greatest athletes from 11 other countries that have confirmed participation. Other Kenyans joining her include her sister Rosehilda Asumwa and Alicia Owegi among others.
The countries include Botswana, Ghana, Burundi, Mauritius, Morocco and Namibia. Others include Nigeria, Seychelles, Tunisia, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, Okutoyi’s breakthrough in tennis came when she made history to became the first Kenyan to be crowned champion at a Grand Slam event.

Okutoyi and her partner Rose Marie Nijkamp from the Netherlands beat Canadians Kayla Cross and Victoria Mboko 3-6, 6-4, 11-9 in the final of the 2022 Wimbledon Open doubles Junior Championships.
Due to her dominant exploits, Okutoyi earned a fully paid scholarship last year to join Auburn University in the United States as part of their tennis program.
