The deadline for Application is Friday, March 31.

The inaugural Paul Bitok National Volleyball Tournament venue has been shifted to Nairobi due to the heavy rains pounding the western part of Kenya where the initial venue was set.

The event was initially scheduled for Friday 7 to Sunday 9 April at the Kiminini Primary School grounds in Bungoma County but the venue has been changed to Nyayo National Stadium and the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.

Bitok revealed that they decided to change the venue because of the weather challenges and noted that he did not want to inconvenience the teams participating in the event.

So far, 16 men's teams and eight teams on the women’s side have confirmed participation. Some of the teams gracing the tournament include KCB and Kenya Pipeline in the women’s side and General Service Unit and KPA in the men’s category.

“The weather in western Kenya is not that favourable at the moment hence we cannot have an outdoor game…that’s why we changed the venue,” he said.

Bitok added that the teams will also use the tournament to prepare for the Africa Club Championships and he did not want them to be affected.

“Some clubs raised concerns towards the issue because they are preparing for the continental show. We also did not want the weather to affect them considering the event is just around the corner,” he said.

The winners of the tournament will receive Ksh100,000 while the first runner’s up will receiver Ksh50,000 in both genders.
