Kasaya was a vital part of the Oilers last weekend as they secured wins in the KVF National League.

Kenya Pipeline’s outside hitter Leonida Kasaya has expressed excitement about getting back to the team after her maternity leave and revealed her biggest challenge was shedding weight.

Kasaya was vital for the Oilers last weekend as they secured wins in the Kenya Volleyball Federation Women's National League.

The Oilers put up a good fight to secure a 3-0 win over Nairobi Water in their opening match and extended the hot streak to shock Kenya Army 3-0 in their second and final match.

"I am happy to be back with the team and so far, I am glad that things are looking up. Training has been okay and at the moment, I can say my fitness levels are at 40%. In a month's time, I believe I will be fully back on track," she said.

She added that being given an opportunity to play after almost a year out comes as a huge motivation for her and she will be keen not to disappoint coach Paul Gitau.

"I feel encouraged and challenged to train even harder. When playing, I am also able to know where I stand and the areas that need correction. I am sure so far, I have not disappointed the coach and I am looking forward to doing my best going forward. I am ready for anything,” she said.

Meanwhile, she revealed that losing weight was her major challenge but she expressed optimism that she will get back to the form of her life in no time.

“The journey has not been easy especially losing weight. I have tried my best and I am proud of the level I have reached so far,” she said.
