Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy has provided timelines when his team will be so strong for their opponents as he looks to bring glory to Kenya.

Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy has fired a strong warning to Kenya’s rivals for the 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN 2024).

Harambee Stars are in camp preparing for the CHAN 2024 tournament, which Kenya will co-host alongside Uganda and Tanzania, but of all three East African Nations, they are in the toughest group.

Kenya are in what has been described as the ‘Group of Death’ with Morocco and DR Congo, who have won the tournament twice, Angola and Zambia and few are giving McCarthy’s men a chance of advancing to the knockout rounds.

However, the former Manchester United first-team coach has said those underrating his team have to do it at their own peril as he has assembled a strong squad while the training currently going on at Kasarani Annex is out of this world.

"In three weeks, we will have a team that no one wants to face," McCarthy told People Daily, expressing confidence in his team’s preparations.

Benni McCarthy Counting on Strong Preparations

"We are preparing the best way possible because I believe we have selected a strong, competitive squad. Everyone is eager for this challenge. We know our fans will be behind us, supporting and motivating us all the way.”

McCarthy believes his players are better off than their opponents as they are still match fit and all he needs to work on now is more technical and tactical stuff.

"Our focus now is on training hard and building strong team chemistry. The league just ended recently, so our match fitness is intact, now it’s about adapting to the coach’s system,” added the former AmaZulu and Cape Town City coach.

McCarthy’s squad selection was the subject of criticism from some quarters but he strongly defended his team as he believes those selected will give him the results during the August 2-30 tournament.
