CAF CC Yanga v USM Alger clash at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium sold out

Festus Chuma 23:00 - 27.05.2023

Kick-off in that match is at 16:00 (East Africa time) and the fixture will be screened on SuperSport.

Sold-out signs have gone up at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Yanga announced on the eve of Sunday’s highly anticipated first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final that the 60,00 capacity stadium will be a sold-out affair.

Ticket sales opened at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday and were sold out in around 48 hours.

Yanga is the first Tanzanian side to reach the final of the Confederation Cup, Africa’s equivalent of the UEFA Europa League.

The 2022-2023 edition marks their sixth appearance in the competition, where they have also made it past the group stages for the first time.

On their side, Alger will be making their second attempt at lifting a continental title, having finished as runner’s up in the 2015 CAF Champions League, which went the way of TP Mazembe through a 4-1 aggregate loss.

Yanga eliminated Marumo Gallants of South Africa in the semifinals to reach the CAF Confederation Cup final, whereas USM Alger saw off Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas.

Timu ya Wananchi entered the tournament as the less fancied side to reach this competition stage.

DR Congo referee Jean-Jacques Ngmbo Ndala will officiate the match, and he will be assisted by Olivier Kabene Safar, also from DR Congo, and Zakhele Thusi Granville Siwela from South Africa.

Kenyan Peter Waweru Kamaku will be in charge of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) and will be assisted by Akhona Makalima of South Africa and Mohamed Ibrahim from Sudan.
