Tusker FC will be back in action after a three-week break as they clash with struggling AFC Leopards with both sides out for a positive result

AFC Leopards and Tusker are under immense pressure to win as both sides face off in an FKF Premier League match at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Monday.

Leopards have just won one match all season with the win coming on October 29 when they beat Nzoia Sugar but since then, they have lost one and drawn three, putting pressure on coach Tomas Trucha.

There have been signs of life in Leopards in their recent displays as they have been taking the lead first but wastefulness and lack of concentration has allowed them to share the spoils rather than take all three points.

Ingwe took a first-minute lead against Posta Rangers but missed a host of chances before the mailmen equalised late in the second half and the same happened against Sofapaka when they went ahead in the first half only to see Batoto ba Mungu score in the 90th minute for a share of the spoils.

That will have to change if they are to get something in Monday’s match although they head into the clash as the underdogs even if the Brewers are struggling.

Tusker are well rested after seeing last week’s match against Bidco United postponed and could have an edge over Ingwe in the grand scheme of things.

Robert Matano’s men were seeking to make it back-to-back wins following a 3-1 win over Nairobi City Stars on November 11 and the motivation will be the same on Monday against a struggling Leopards.

Last season’s runners-ups have not looked like a team that can challenge for the title this campaign and find themselves in an unfamiliar 12th position with 14 points, 13 behind leaders Gor Mahia with a match in hand.

Tusker have bossed this fixture recently, winning the last three encounters, including identical 1-0 wins in both legs last season with Leopards’ last win over the Brewers coming in September 2021.

That record will add to the motivation of both teams as Tusker will seek to maintain their good run while 16th-placed Leopards will be out to right those wrongs.
