The former Manchester United midfielder criticised Ruben Amorim for prioritising Europa League success over Manchester United's poor Premier League performance.

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has called out Ruben Amorim despite guiding the club to the Europa League final.

Manchester United was impressive as they secured a 7-1 aggregate victory against Athletic Bilbao in their semifinal.

The Red Devils started their campaign on a high, winning 3-0 in the first leg before extending the winning streak to the second leg, where they won 4-1.

Manchester United are currently 15th in the Premier League table, something that extremely irks Paul Scholes, who believes they should achieve success in all their games, not just in the Europa League.

Ruben Amorim has a unique style of fielding players, often playing the less experienced players in the Premier League and his key players in the Europa League.

In a piece he wrote for TNT Sports, as per the Daily Mail, the co-owner of Salford City pointed out that Ruben Amorim should give equal chances to the Premier League just like he does in the Europa League.

“Manchester United should be able to play in two or three competitions at once without sacrificing something. And they've clearly sacrificed the league,” Paul Scholes wrote.

“I don't like it and I don't agree with it, and I believe there has to be some sort of standards required in a Premier League team.

“It's almost as if they go into Premier League games and there's an acceptance that they're not going to win the game, which is madness.”

The former midfielder believes that Ruben Amorim is to blame, noting that he has always been in charge of selecting the players and specifically pointed out the mess in their match against Brentford.

Paul Scholes believes that Ruben Amorim has shown no regard for the Premier League, and everyone around him seems to be okay with that.

“He's not playing teams to win games of football in the league. I think even fans are thinking, ‘Let's get these league games out of the way because the league has been a disaster,” Scholes added.

“They're probably thinking, ‘Play whoever you want, we don't care.’ There's an acceptance to it, which I think is wrong, because the Premier League is your bread and butter.”

While Ruben Amorim has guided Manchester United to a Europa League final, Paul Scholes’ criticism highlights a deeper issue, Manchester United’s dismal Premier League form.

As the Red Devils prepare for a crucial final against Tottenham, Ruben Amorim now faces mounting pressure not only to win silverware but also to restore respectability in the Premier League.
