Harambee Stars midfielder Richard Odada has reacted to his exit from Danish club Aalborg who opted against making his loan deal permanent.

Harambee Stars midfielder Richard Odada has penned a heartfelt farewell to Aalborg fans after leaving the Danish club following the end of his loan spell.

Odada joined Aalborg on loan from MLS side Philadelphia Union at the start of the just-concluded campaign with an option to making the move permanent but despite securing promotion to the top tier, the club has opted against extending his stay.

The switch came after the central midfielder had endured a frustrating spell in Philadelphia where he was overlooked by the first team and he had to contend with opportunities in the second-string side but he will now have to return to America or look for another club this summer.

“Thank you, Aalborg. Will always be a supporter, wish you all the best,” said Odada.

His farewell message received heartwarming responses from fans and his Harambee Stars teammates, among them captain Michael Olunga.

“Tank, you will rise like a champ that you are,” Olunga replied.

Aalborg offered Odada a new lease of life as he started his spell in Denmark well, featuring regularly for the side, before reduced minutes in the latter stages of the season.

“The loan agreements with Richard Odada and Emmanuel Toku respectively expire at the end of the season. Kenyan national player Richard Odada is thus returning to Major Soccer League club Philadelphia Union, while Ghanaian Emmanuel Toku has Belgian Oud-Heverlee Leuven as his employer,” Aalborg said on the departure of Odada and Ghanaian Emmanuel Toku, who were both on loan at the club.

Odada scored four goals and provided one assist in 22 games across all competitions for the Danish club and returns to Philadelphia in a stronger position after showing what he is capable of when played consistently.
