The club’s secret to success and their driving force for the last two seasons have also been revealed.

Yanga SC goalkeeper Djigui Diarra has revealed the secrets that have pushed them to this season’s CAF Confederation Cup final.

The Tanzanian giants will face Algerian champions USM Alger in a two-legged final. This is the first time Yanga are participating in the final.

"It has been a great journey, to be honest, and all of us are proud of this achievement to be in the final," the Malian goalkeeper revealed in an interview with CAFOnline.

"It has been a collective team effort. Everyone understands his role in the team, and they do their job well. For me, I am a goalkeeper, and I have a very important role to play in inspiring confidence in my team.

"It is the same for others as well. What has driven us this far is the unity in the team on and off the pitch. We have enjoyed the journey, and we keep pushing each other to achieve something.

The 25-year-old Bamako-born goalkeeper is also confident they can go all the way and win the title.

"Yes, absolutely. I believe we can," he added ahead of Sunday’s first meeting in Dar es Salaam.

"We are all united as a team, from the players to the technical staff, the management, and the fans, for this one goal, which is to achieve victory in the final.

"We have come a long way so far, and we want to crown this journey with the glory of the title. We are determined, and you can even see it in training. Everyone is focused and ready to battle."

Apart from reaching the continental final, Timu ya Wananchi managed to defend the Tanzanian Mainland Premier League title.

"We have a very good coach, and he knows how to give everyone confidence," he continued. "We also have a very good technical staff that communicates really well with the players.

"There is a good atmosphere in the team, and what has driven us to success more is the desire to win, and we take every match as a final."

The Jangwani club has a chance of winning a treble after also reaching the Azam Federation Cup final.
